We offer an 8 Week Beginners’ Class!

Beginners start at the same time, so we can focus only on the things you need to learn in the beginning. This makes a step-by-step learning of the material easier.

Anyone can learn Kendo
even if they are not athletic or naturally coordinated.

The emphasis in this class is:

  • Regaining the habit of relaxation
  • Development of solid basic sword skills
  • An introduction to the mental / spirit aspects of traditional martial training
  • Safe and gradual fitness conditioning. You don’t have to be in good shape to start, but you can develop whatever fitness level you desire.
  • Injury prevention and rehabilitation. If you have weak knees, back, etc. this training can help you.

There are three practice times available each week:

  • Teens and Adults (12 years old and older)
    • Mondays & Wednesdays 6:00-7:00 pm
    • Saturdays 11:45am – 12:45pm

You are welcome to attend as many classes per week as you like, depending on your schedule, all for the same membership fee. You may also attend different classes each week, as your schedule changes.

We present the new material by the week, not by the class. So if you miss a class or two, you won’t get behind.


30% off for your first two months’ membership fees! The 8 Week Beginners’ class is $105 for tuition and $75 for the two kinds of swords; $180 total. We do not use Kendo uniforms during the beginning class. You should wear a tee shirt and sweatpants (or shorts).

After the 8 Week Beginning Class, the monthly membership is $75/month.
